The archetypes in this journey didn’t begin as a framework or a teaching model but emerged from the pages of a novel I was writing called, Albert's Manuscript. In the story a young man is taken to the realm of the ancestors and taught several important lessons on humankind and how we move through the world. Later I realized that Albert's journey outlines the spiral of personal development that I had been studying for decades. The archetypes outlined in this journey come from this story.
Begin Here — Take the Weaving the World Quiz
Where do you land on the spiral? Are you a Weeper, a Walker, a Watcher or a Weaver? Click below to take the quiz.
When you finish the quiz, simply count how many A’s (The Weeper), B’s (The Walker), C’s (The Watcher), and D’s (The Weaver) you circled. Whichever letter you have the most of is your starting point.
You may recognize pieces of yourself or different times of your life in all four of these archetypes. You may also want to read about each archetype to recognize different times and stages of life when you were passing through these other movements. We move through them fluidly as life unfolds. Feel free to wander.
A Gentle Reminder
Recognizing the part of the path we are walking is part of the discovery process. There is no right, wrong, better or worse. My personal experience is that I move up and down the spiral based on what life lessons I need to learn.
There is a fifth Archetype which was not in the original manuscript and is not included in the quiz but that follows us through all the many spirals along which we travel. Personally, I hold this archetype as an ideal, an aspiration sometimes sitting near her and sometimes wondering where she has gone. But she is never gone.
You’re welcome to return to this journey as often as you like.
